kW for Good

Energy Equity Through Clean Energy Innovation

How It Works

kW for Good is a COI Ladder Institute program that connects corporate energy savings to community need, creating a sustainable pathway toward energy equity for underserved households.

The kW for Good program enables businesses to pay forward a portion of their energy savings to energy-insecure families and communities, ensuring equitable access to clean energy solutions.

The Challenge: Energy Inequity

Energy inequity disproportionately affects low-medium income households. Families often spend a higher percentage of their income on energy costs while receiving lower-quality service.

The Solution: kW for Good

kW for Good addresses this gap by redirecting measurable energy savings from participating businesses into assistance for energy-insecure households, reducing cost burdens and expanding access to clean energy resources.

How Businesses Participate

Businesses partner with COI Energy to implement efficiency measures and commit a portion of the resulting savings to the program.

Self-Sustaining Cycle of Impact

This model generates long-term support for communities without relying solely on traditional philanthropic funding — sustained through continued corporate participation.

Serve Energy-Insecure Communities

We partner with NGOs, utilities, and public housing authorities to deliver energy resources directly to the communities that need them most. Partner organizations distribute bill assistance, weatherization support, and clean energy services to qualified households — helping eradicate energy poverty at the local level.

A Safe and Dignified Life Is a Human Right

An average business can provide energy security to approximately 40 homes annually by gifting just 10% of their energy savings. Your organization can help direct those savings where they matter most.
